Details
- Where the permits come from: public building-permit records. Every job starts with a permit, so a new one means a homeowner is about to hire.
- What's in each email: the address, permit type and description, plus the job value and the contractor and license number when the record lists one.
- What a county covers: every city in that county we collect today, and any we add later at no extra cost. The list is growing; we don't promise dates. Covered today:
- Marin County: Unincorporated Marin (county permits outside the cities), Corte Madera (no job value or contractor listed), Larkspur, San Anselmo (no job value or contractor; new permits from Oct 26)
- San Francisco: San Francisco (city & county)
- San Mateo County: Burlingame, Woodside, Atherton (no job value; new permits from Oct 26), Hillsborough (no job value or contractor; new permits from Oct 26)
- Santa Clara County: Los Altos Hills
- Alameda County: Oakland, Unincorporated Alameda County (no job value listed), Livermore
- Contra Costa County: Walnut Creek, Concord, Martinez, Pittsburg (partial: only some permits are online), El Cerrito (no job value or contractor; new permits from Oct 26)
- Sacramento County: Sacramento (city) (arrives in a monthly batch), Unincorporated Sacramento County (county permits outside the cities), Elk Grove (a few days after issue)
- Not live yet: Sonoma County, Napa County
- Timing: emails go out in the morning. Some cities publish later: Sacramento (city) once a month, Elk Grove a few days after issue.
- Partial records: Pittsburg puts only some permits online. Corte Madera and unincorporated Alameda County don't list job value.
- Counties marked "not live yet": we don't cover them yet. Email us if you want to hear when we do.
- One seat is one trade in one county. When a county's seats are full, there will be a waitlist. Want more? Each extra trade or county is its own subscription.
- Cancel anytime from the link in your emails.
